Look no further than her latest ensemble. The 55-year-old was spotted in Los Angeles wearing a sophisticated but minimal look made up of timeless essentials. The singer wore black cropped pants with a subtle tuxedo stripe and a pair of Dior lace-up ballet flats with a delicate pearl at the toe. The undisputed hero of her look, however, was her sweater, which featured small, decorative jewel buttons and a bow.

Sweaters are, of course, a fall and winter staple, but elegant versions like Lopez’s have been trending on the runway lately, especially those with precious details and embellishments. To achieve the same effect as the star, you need to go for a strategic pairing based on clean-cut, timeless pants and classic, even delicate, accessories.

Jennifer Lopez wore a similar look over the summer, however, instead of a sweater she wore a white poplin shirt with tailored pinstripe pants and the same black satin ballet flats.
